Apart from his acting ability, Bollywood actor Abhay Deol has quite a reputation for speaking his mind (in a religious way, of course). The Devdi star has never shied away from drawing attention to topics that are otherwise considered hush-hush by most Bollywood stars. Abhay Deol has spoken to “wake up Indian celebrities”, questioning their decisions to endorse fair Indian products. In his latest Instagram entry, the 44-year-old actor revealed that he and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara co-star Farhan Akhtar were “demoted” to give supporting actor status in the award show, where Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif were The 2011 lead film was supposedly directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, an ensemble, was the story of three friends who resumed on a vacation of a lifetime, not only on a trip to Spain but also on a journey of self-discovery. The award season, however, refused to be seen, Abhay Deol revealed. “So by the industry’s own logic, it was a film about a man and a woman falling in love, in which the man makes whatever decision is supported by his friends,” he writes. In Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin starred as Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol’s Prem respectively; However, the essence of the film relates to the theme of friendship rather than romance.
Abhay Deol left the award season altogether, though Farhan Akhtar did not. “There are many secret and overt ways in which industry people lobby against you. In this case it was shamelessly overtaken,” he writes, “I of course boycotted the awards but Farhan was fine with it.
Abhay Deol’s post is the latest of several similar results from members of the film fraternity; Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyapand-style actor Sahil Khan has accused some powerful industry stars out of Bollywood, while others, among them Raveena Tandon and Vivek Oberoi, have accused the industry with this “girl” behavior. Singer Sonu Nigam recently stated that the music industry is controlled by two “mafias”. These were posted after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, according to reports, the top production house boycotted despite the success of his 2019 film Chhichhore and others.
